2022 Welcome Picnic

Meadow Brook Kindergarten & 1st Grade Families

Tuesday, August 9, 2022

On August 9, 2022, CHI-PAC (Chinese Immersion Parent Advisory Council) hosted a picnic at Ada Park to extend a warm greeting to our incoming kindergarten class and to welcome back our first grade immersion students.

Chinese Immersion Picnic

We had a great time catching up with old friends and welcoming new ones.

Lily Langen, CHI-PAC President, thanked everyone for attending, shared information about the Chinese Immersion Program, and introduced our senior class volunteers and staff in attendance. Ms. Beth DeRosier, our kindergarten English teacher, and Juan Li Laoshi, our new kindergarten Chinese teacher, made a few remarks to our new pupils students and warmly greeted their past pupils. Professor Li Xiang, our Western Michigan University professor from our high school dual enrollment program, was present to answer questions regarding progression through the program. Our new Meadow Brook principal, Ms. Dawn Heerema, was also in attendance getting to know our families. We had a great time catching up with old friends and welcoming new ones. The children were eager to play games and learn from our Chinese immersion seniors. Special thanks to Annierae, Maeve, & Ronald, who are enrolled in the WMU/FHN Chinese Immersion College program.

We had a wonderful evening kicking off the new school year with a new generation of Chinese immersion scholars and their families!
