About CHI-PAC Board
The Chinese Immersion Parent Advisory Council (CHI-PAC) is committed to the academic & cultural excellence of the FHPS Mandarin Chinese Immersion Program and advocacy for the families of Chinese Immersion students. We are dedicated to enriching the educational experience of all of our children, by supplementing the resources of the program via advice, materials, services & financial support.
What makes our program unique?
Volunteers are the key to the richness and quality of our Chinese Immersion program. It is through volunteers that we can help to grow the program for our children.
CHI-PAC is a formal way to include parents and students perspectives in the district’s decision-making process about the program. CHI-PAC members actively reach out to engage families in district policy discussions and to represent parent and student concerns to district leaders. This group is made up of parent volunteers who have children within the Chinese Immersion program.
CHI-PAC BOARD
Each Board Member is required to attend monthly board meetings. Board Members are encouraged to lead or assist with various projects as needed and as interested throughout the year.
Dates and times for 2022-2023 Board Meetings: times are 10:30 am – 12:30 pm unless otherwise noted.
8/4, 9/15, 10/13, 11/17, 12/15 at 9-11 am, 1/19, 2/16, 3/16, 4/20, 5/16 (Tues) at 12-2pm, 6/6 (Tues) at 12-2pm

Lily Langen
President
The President serves as the liaison to teachers, district administrators, and principals at Meadow Brook, Northern Trails, Northern Hills Middle School, and Northern High School, overseeing events and initiatives promoting the program.
Christine Chamberlain
Vice President
VP is responsible for email communications to families as well as updating Chinese Immersion directories and assisting the President.
Lauren Cook
Treasurer
The Treasurer oversees the budget and finances, keeping records of all receipts and disbursements as well as provides a summary of the budget and a reconciliation of deposits and expenditures at every board meeting.
Elizabeth VanSickle
Secretary
The Secretary is in charge of taking board meeting minutes that are made available for review within one week of the meeting, keeping a record of all final drafts of board meeting minutes and meeting agendas.

Recruitment Chair
Recruitment Chair works with the district on Kindergarten recruitment.
Kelly Buth
Co-Academic Chair
The Co-Academic Chair promotes a smooth transition from middle school to high school, ensuring funding and successful awarding of the annual Spirit of Chinese Scholarship to a high school senior. Support high school programs.
Marie Ridley
Co-Academic Chair
The Co-Academic Chair promotes a smooth transition from elementary to 5/6 building, ensuring funding and educational opportunities at those programs.
Yelena Wells
Social Media/Website Chair
The Social Media Chair promotes FH Chinese Immersion on social media channels and manages @FHChineseImmersion Social Media platforms.
Vinayak Manohar
Cultural / Social Chair
The Social Chair organizes and coordinates volunteers for events such as the Kindergarten Welcome Picnic, Honor Your Teacher Day, Fall Moon Festival activities, Ada Holiday Parade, and Chinese New Year activities.
Norberto DeJesus
Co-Culttural / Social Chair
The Co-Cultural/Social Chair promotes helps support cultural opportunities and social events at the middle school to high school levels.

Established in 2012, CHI-PAC was created to establish a platform for financial support and social resources. CHI-PAC advises the Forest Hills Public Schools district of parents and students perspectives, and provides recommendations about Chinese Immersion issues.
